This weekend, hundreds of walkers will step off in three locations around Ohio for the 2015 AIDS Walk Ohio, benefitting ARCOhio.

This year they are going for a  $300,000 fundraising target – the largest goal ever for the organization.

“Our programs rely a lot on our unrestricted funds, which cover the gaps in federal funding for our programs,” said Joel Diaz, Chief Development Officer for ARCOhio. Through these funds ARCOhio has been able to handle the around 5,000 clients served through their clinics and office.

“It’s a unique opportunity to impact the amount of individuals we’re serving…when you talk about the impact that $300,000 has, those numbers really add up,” said Diaz.

ARCOhio is hosting three events around the Buckeye state, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo. Diaz says the funds from these events helps the organization keep people healthy through their clinics and support services. The programs at ARC Ohio help the site report an almost 80% viral suppression rate, more than double the national average.

Donors can still contribute to campaigns, and you can register a donation on site at the walk. A lucky and dedicated group of folks who made it to Grand Walker status by raising $1,000 will even get to have a special brunch with Food Network’s Chopped host and Columbus-native Ted Allen. All for a good cause.

You can visit the AIDS Walk Ohio website for more information or to donate.
